This was my second time at ERS, and this year it was hosted in Amsterdam, Netherlands — my first time visiting this beautiful city with its dancing houses and lovely canals.
The program was particularly exciting for me, as there was a noticeable increase in research being presented in the space of physical activity and exercise. I spent a large proportion of my time at the poster sessions, which were full of innovative work and lively discussions.
Being at ERS allowed me to:
- Create new connections with people interested in similar areas, some of whom was able to visit at their research institute just a week later.
- Generate ideas for future work after engaging with presenters and exploring their research.
- Ask my first question in a big forum, something I’ve never had the confidence to do before.
- See more work being done in the ‘can do, do do’ space, a classic favourite topic of mine.
It was energizing to be part of a community so passionate about exercise as medicine and to see the integration of digital tools and behavioural approaches supporting physical activity in people with respiratory conditions. I left inspired and full of ideas for future research!
