Background

Professor Anne Holland is a Professor of Physiotherapy, a joint appointment of Monash University and Alfred Health in Melbourne, Australia. She is also a National Health and Medical Research Council Leadership Fellow (2021-2025). Anne has published over 300 peer-reviewed journal articles and her publications have been cited over 15 000 times. She is currently a Board Director for the American Thoracic Society. In 2019 she was appointed as Fellow of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand for exceptional service to respiratory medicine, one of only 2 physiotherapists ever awarded.

Research Interest

Anne’s research investigates novel treatments for chronic lung disease, with a focus on exercise and physical activity. Over the course of her career, she has published 27 randomised controlled trials of non-pharmacological interventions. Her work is cited in 23 international and 4 national treatment guidelines. Anne was senior author for the American Thoracic Society Home Oxygen Therapy Guideline (published 2020) and the Australian/New Zealand clinical practice guidelines in pulmonary rehabilitation (2017).
