Congratulations Associate Professor Murphy!
Healthy Canberra Grant ‘Breathe Life for You and Your Baby’
A/Prof Vanessa Murphy was recently awarded a 2-year Healthy Canberra Grant ‘Breathe Life for You and Your Baby’, to promote asthma in pregnancy management messages in a public awareness campaign across the ACT in partnership with Asthma Australia and Prof Michael Peek from the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children in Canberra. The Asthma in Pregnancy Toolkit will be a key resource for the campaign, with the website promoted to health professionals and women/families as a trusted source of information on this topic.
The Asthma in Pregnancy Toolkit is currently being developed as an evidence-based online resource for health professionals and pregnant women and their families, to allow for optimal management of asthma during pregnancy. The Toolkit has been developed with a team of > 40 expert writers and informed by a Reference Group of consumers. The draft website is currently being finalised with a public launch date of November 2022.
Completed section topics for Health Professionals include: About Asthma in Pregnancy, Medications, Treatable Traits (Pulmonary, Extra-pulmonary and Risk factors/Behavioural), Maternity Care (Models of Care, Labour and Birth) and COVID-19. Topics currently being finalised include Breastfeeding and Air Quality. A separate ‘For Families’ is also being developed in consultation with Asthma Australia and mothers with asthma. This section will include resources for Indigenous women, and materials translated into other languages. A built-in user survey has been added to capture information about who accesses the Asthma in Pregnancy Toolkit and how it is used, to inform the Toolkit’s continued development.
